HYPO SPRAY

Subcutaneous and intravenous administration of many types of medication is accomplished with the hypospray. This device employs a pinpoint high-pressure low-volume microscopic aero-suspension stream by using ultrasonic waves against a specific area of the patients body, which permits low-viscosity medication to be administered through the epidermis without mechanical penetration. Certain types of medications can be formulated for a somewhat wider spray pattern, resulting in lesser penetration into the epidermis, but yielding a higher rate of absorption due to the greater skin area exposed to the drug.

Made of lightweight duralynium, with an aluminum compression core atop the four centimeter long compound tube. Standard hyposprays are designed to accept a standard medication vial, which can be changed as required. Field hyposprays are normally loaded with an inert saline solution that serves as a vehicle fluid for any of five user-selectable concentrated emergency medication ampules.

This hypospray can insert up to 200 cc's of chemical agent into the bloodstream in less than 2.5 seconds. The typical injection site used is the side of the neck, to the carotid artery, but the hypospray can inject even through clothing. Unlike hypodermic needles, the hypospray can be used on multiple patients without worries of spreading blood-borne illnesses.
